Mission Statement: "Girl Scouts - Where Girls Grow Strong"
On March 12, 1912, Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid.
Today, Girl Scouts of the USA has a membership of nearly four million girls and adults (in fact, more than 50 million women in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae). Girl Scouts is the world's pre-eminent organization dedicated solely to girls - "all girls" - where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.
In Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and the power
of girls together. Through the many enriching experiences provided by Girl
Scouting, they grow courageous and strong.
Payson Girl Scouts is a volunteer organization
serving over 100 girls from Kindergarten through high school, emphasizing fun,
friends, educational activities, community service and leadership. One of our
on-going community service projects is keeping Payson’s Main Street clean with
monthly trash pick-up for over ten years!
