History:

Community Presbyterian Church is the first established church in Payson. Founded in 1935, Community Presbyterian has grown up with the town. Originally, we held meetings in Payson's first schoolhouse whenever a traveling minister visited town. In 1935 we officially organized and soon constructed a log building to serve as our sanctuary (our Child Learning Center is now using that historical structure). In 1980 our current facility was completed and we are now in the process of developing a master plan for expansion.

Community Projects We Sponsor:

Sunday Morning Worship begins at 10:15 a.m. with a Hymn Sing of the old favorites; at 10:30 a.m. service begins followed by a fellowship time.

Adult Sunday School begins at 8:50 a.m. for an hour of study.
 

Thursday Alternative Service is more informal & begins at 6:00 p.m. A FREE light supper is also served during that time.

 

Some of our Activities & Organizations include:

• Presbyterian Women's Group: Meets for a potluck luncheon & speaker the first Thursday of each month - ALL ladies are welcome to attend.

• "Holy Rollers": A group representing our Mariners who help paint the new Habitat for Humanity homes.

• "When Relationships End" Workshop: Offered twice a year, early Spring and mid Fall.

• Jazz in Arizona: A  fabulous FREE jazz event featuring well known musicians and vocalists at 2:00 p.m. the 2nd Sunday each month.

Community Services We Provide:

Our Deacons offer emergency financial assistance to Payson families in crisis for prescriptions, disconnect utility fees, gasoline vouchers, lodging (one night), etc. All persons applying must go through the CAP office (Community Action Program, Rick Croy, 474-1759) first to get a written referral. Call our office at 474-2059 Monday through Friday between 9:00am-Noon for more information. Deacons are available to assist families ONLY on Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. We also have a small food bank available to families during regular office hours.
