Mission Statement:

Special Olympics is an unprecedented global movement which, through quality sports training and competition, improves the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and, in turn, the lives of everyone they touch.

● Special Olympics Arizona empowers people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential and develop their skills through year-round sports training and competition.

● As a result, Special Olympics athletes become fulfilled and productive members of their families and the communities in which they live.

● Special Olympics is an experience that is energizing, healthy, skillful, welcoming and joyful.

General Information:

As Special Olympics Arizona is a registered 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization. It does not receive any funds from government agencies or the United Way. It is supported entirely by private donations. Fund-raising activities are conducted at the local, area, and state levels.

There is never a cost to the athletes to participate; Special Olympics Arizona pays for all competition expenses.

All persons with developmental disabilities, regardless of ability level, may participate in the programs and sports offered by Special Olympics Arizona. Individuals are eligible for training and competition at age eight. There is no upper age limit.
